Our Commitment
VuelaCasa is dedicated to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.
We believe that every person should have equal access to flight deal information and the ability to subscribe to our service. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is a core part of how we build VuelaCasa.
Accessibility Standards
This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for all people.
The four core principles we follow are:
- Perceivable — Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive, including adequate color contrast and text alternatives for non-text content.
- Operable — User interface components and navigation must be operable by keyboard and other assistive technologies.
- Understandable — Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable, including clear form labels and error messages.
- Robust — Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
Current Accessibility Status
We conduct regular accessibility audits using automated tools and manual testing. Below is our current compliance status as of our last audit:
Technical Specifications
VuelaCasa is built using the following technologies that support accessibility:
- HTML5 with semantic markup
- CSS with sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
- ARIA labels on interactive elements
- Keyboard-navigable interface without mouse dependency
- Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels
We regularly test our site using the following tools:
- WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool
- Manual keyboard navigation testing
- Chrome DevTools accessibility audits
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of our website may have accessibility limitations. We are actively working to address these:
- Destination photo cards — Text overlaid on background images uses gradient overlays to ensure readability. Automated tools may flag these as contrast issues due to limitations in evaluating gradient backgrounds. The underlying text is readable via assistive technologies.
- Small decorative text — Some labels such as IATA airport codes and metadata use smaller text sizes for design purposes. These are supplementary to larger, accessible primary text.
We are committed to resolving these issues in future updates.
